You're a virgin who can't drive.

Riding in Cars with Boys
and Uptown Girls are both playing on TV right now at the same time. Drew Barrymore is one of my favorite actresses but Brittany Murphy really shines the brightest in Riding in Cars with Boys. I absolutely love her. And for the record, I love Uptown Girls. Brittany was so good in it. So now I am simultaneously flipping through both MTV and Bravo to watch both movies just to see as much Brittany Murphy as I can. She really had something special and I miss seeing her in films. RIP, Brittany.

Brain Bludgeon.

Soooo this trailer is nuts. And probably not for the faint of heart. It's actually not a real movie trailer but a trailer composed of clips from really obscure horror films. Brain Bludgeon will be playing at the 2nd Annual Everything Is Festival next weekend, which is sponsored by Cinefamily in Los Angeles. Here's what their website has to say about it:

Before the feature, it’s time for Brain Bludgeon! Sewn together from hundreds of forgotten horror films, BB is a transcendental fusion of trash that exposes the willing to everything curious, bizarre, hilarious and awful about no-budget genre films. Hot penny torture, exploding 3D skulls, brutal “de-fetusing,” raping zombies, and much more collide in this blissfully IQ-withering amalgamation of exploitation hell!

R.I.P., Ryan Dunn.

Ryan Dunn passed away this morning. He was in a fatal one-car accident in Pennsylvania around 3:30 AM. Very Sad. He was my favorite Jackass star. Out of all of the Jackass guys I would never have thought he'd be the first to go.

If I didn't know better I'd say you were reciting some important plot point.

New Muppets trailer! I love this one. It shows a leeeeetle more of the actual movie, but like the others it doesn't give hardly anything away. Two of my favs, Statler and Waldorf, make an appearance this time and I just love seeing Jason Segal interacting with all the characters. After watching Muppets Take Manhattan recently, I am even more excited to see the new Muppet movie.

It goes to show you never can tell.

Words really cannot express how much I love Pulp Fiction, my favorite film of all time, and this video is a pretty great little tribute. I think Tarantino would approve of this cut. Really, though, I had no idea how many times a curse word entered the dialogue. I said goddamn.

It's a rare condition, this day and age, to read any good news on the newspaper page.

I love this. Here's what The Office would look like if it were a late 80s/early 90s sitcom.

We will get laid!

Looks like the gang's back together again. If you haven't heard, the original American Pie cast is back for American Reunion, where they all come home for their ten year high school reunion. I'm pretty interested to see how it's is going to turn out. Also, I love that they are recreating the exact pact scene here.

Now Tane I can get into.

I know Tim & Eric aren't for everyone, but I think it's pretty much the greatest and I crack up whenever I get sucked into the massive amount of clips on their website. Plus they have the best celeb cameos. I honestly can't wait to see a trailer for their first movie.

So if they are for you, enjoy.

BEST. EVER. Paul Rudd is obviously the greatest.

Glitter all over the room, pink flamingos in the pool.

This may be the greatest music video I've ever seen.

I love Katy Perry and I love Katy Perry's alter ego, Kathy Beth Terry. She loves Lisa Frank, JTT, Pogs and Hanson. This whole video is a blast from the 80s/90s past with a Glee influence. And the cameos are ridiculously good. I won't ruin any of them for you...just watch the whole thing.

It's just a deadbeat summer.

Just want to wish all you festival goers a happy Bonnaroo!

I was one excited festival virg this time last year...it's nice having this awesome video collage to remember the good times that went down. For everyone attending this year, enjoy the lemonades, comedy tent and covering your body in as many glow sticks as possible for me!

Put your claws up.

This is genius. After watching this video it seemed so obvious to tweak "Born This Way" to suit the X-Men, but this guy really has some smart, clever lyrics. And who doesn't want to see Magneto playing acoustic guitar.

If you haven't seen X-Men: First Class yet, go see it. Definitely one of my new favorite superhero movies. Sure there are some cheesy parts and a couple cheesy evil mutants, but nothing like the cheesiness of X-Men: The Last Stand (minus the craziness of Jean Grey vs. Professor X) or X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Good grief. But really, the story is great in the new one and any scene involving Xavier and especially Magneto is terrific.

I call it Malibooya.

So Kanye's video for Monster has been OFFICIALLY released. I saw this a while back, and I think there are a few changes. I believe it's been banned from playing on TV during certain times, so I never knew if it had been officially released or not. But basically, I have been OBSESSED with this song for some time now. Definitely one of the best songs of the year thus far. This video is AMAZING. Yes, people will be (and have the right to be) offended, because graphic images of torture, necrophilia and deformities are not for everyone. But this video is so perfect for this song. Every time I hear this or watch the video I feel like I'm witnessing something epic. So watch it and remember it's art...you can pretty much get away with anything when you make that argument.

Terry Richardson.

Kid Beebop.

Over the weekend I was able to help out with a little project. The results are pretty awesome. Check out this hilarious video starring Kid Beebop and his sweet dancing skills.

Minimalism.

I recently discovered a site on Tumblr called Minimal Movie Posters, which I was excited about because I'm a big fan of a good minimal movie poster. It's always nice to see a movie poster that doesn't feature some crappy photoshopped picture. While a lot of the designs on the site are amateur, there are some really great ones in the mix.

The feel bad movie of Christmas.

Holy. Shiz. This is one EPIC trailer. I've been told multiple times to see the original trilogy, which I hear is awesome, but David Fincher's Girl With the Dragon Tattoo looks so badass. This is a taped version of the red band trailer, which I hear is going to be officially released online this coming week. But man, definitely will have to check this out.

The 'Xanadu' of family entertainment.

Muppets!

A lot of high-fivin' and a lot of smiles.

Probably the greatest episode of Between Two Ferns yet. Not only does Will Ferrell look dashing, but the dialogue and cameo here are just amazing. And now I want strawberries.

Also, can we please just get a Galifianakis and Ferrell buddy movie going already?

I absolutely adore Sesame Street. And celebs interviewing celebs. So this is awesome.

I'm just a holy fool, oh baby he's so cruel, but still I'm in love with Judas, baby.

JUDAS HAS ARRIVED. love. love. love. I am holding out on purchasing any Gaga songs until her CD comes out. I fully intend on prancing over to Amoeba Music to pick that up the day it's out.

Also, listen to this crazy remix:

This is a great day for America.

Hilarious. The beginning bit runs a little long, but the end is super funny.

I don't speak your Americano.

Gaga sang a new song off Born This Way in Guadalajara last night called "Americano." I do really like the song but does it not sound like Gaga's been listening to a lot of Yolanda Be Cool?

P.S. this is my fav video for this song...I know these two are on a McDonald's commercial now, which makes things slightly lamer, but I saw this video long before that and loved it.

Anybody interested in grabbing a couple of burgers and hittin' the cemetery?

I really love [the films of] series. Of course, I was super excited to see that the latest was a tribute to Wes Anderson's films. I basically LOVE anything Mr. Anderson creates. Such an artistic genius.

And of course this newest video really delivers. The editing, music, and attention to detail shine through in a big way yet again. I could also go on forever about just how amazing I think Wes Anderson is and how inspired and overcome with happiness I feel every time I watch one of his films but I will just let these visuals speak for themselves. Enjoy.

But these girls I’m kissin’ chase the blues away like Gargamel.

Love this song. I love both Kanye's and Childish Gambino's latest music. So so good.

I saw the Iamdonald tour at the Music Box in Hollywood last week and it was one of the greatest nights ever. Not only was Donald/Childish amazing, but freaking Reggie Watts freestyled with him during the encore. Also the stars must have just aligned just for me because I met Reggie Watts and Danny Pudi. So freaking rad.

Ridiculous fake trailer. And anyone else think Rose McGowan's face is starting to look like kind of like a wax figure?

Also, sorry for the lack of posts the past two weeks. I was in the middle of a cross-country journey and a big move to the west coast. But I have returned and hopefully will have even crazier and more entertaining things to post and share with everyone!

I am the devil, and I am here to do the devil's work.

The first official picture attached to Rob Zombie's new film, The Lords of Salem. Looks like some sort of torture device. Which means I am incredibly excited to see some good old Zombie torturing. Anything reminiscent of his first two films is exciting. Upon hearing the news that Zombie was going to be making a film that wasn't Halloween, I became immediately interested. Now that there is actually photos and progress happening on the project I couldn't be happier. Of course I'm not expecting House of 1000 Corpses or The Devil's Rejects, but I can get behind this for sure.

Here's what Zombie's said about the film:

There were twenty people that everyone knows about – obviously all innocent – executed as witches in Salem. The basic premise of the film is that there were a further four who actually were witches, who were killed secretly, and vowed one day to return to wreak havoc on Salem’s descendants. That’s when the movie jumps ahead to the present day and things start to go wrong…

I hardly think I'm Sid Vicious.

Official trailer for Hesher. I am really excited to see this film. I absolutely love Joseph Gordon-Levitt and to see him in this type of role should be really interesting.

Here's the plot summary:

Loud music. Pornography. Burning shit to the ground. These are a few of Hesher’s favorite things. And they are what Hesher (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) brings into the lives of TJ (Devin Brochu) and his father, Paul (Rainn Wilson) when he takes up residence in their garage uninvited.
Grief-stricken by the loss of TJ’s mother in a car accident, Paul can’t muster the strength to evict the strange squatter and soon the long-haired, tattooed Hesher becomes a fixture in the household. Like a force of nature, Hesher’s anarchy shakes the family out of their grief and helps them embrace life once more.

Because there are supposedly three Snow White projects in the works, it's important to pay tribute to the original. Here's a pretty fascinating video from 1939 showing how Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was created. It's always crazy to see just how much artwork was involved for these projects.

Holy crap, where did those moves come from? Seriously?!
I think Snooks may actually have a future in professional wrestling...

Maybe, you'll end up like me, a hobo with a shotgun.

Ummmmm YES. I will be seeing this. Director of Treevenge making a full length feature film about the faux trailer he made for Grindhouse? Yes, please! I heard about this project awhile ago and the newest trailer makes me pretty happy. Also, how COOL is this movie poster?

Kickin' in the front seat, sittin' in the backseat.

No words necessary here...this is just an amazing video from tonight's Jimmy Fallon episode...if you didn't see it, you HAVE to watch.

I'm tired of rumors starting, I'm sick of being followed.

Here's the 911 tape from the night of Lindsay's attempted escape from the Betty Ford clinic and from when she allegedly assaulted one of the employees. Lindsay basically starts whining and immediately playing the innocent victim, something I'm sure she practices on a daily basis. I mean, good grief. Just throw her in jail, if nothing else just for being beyond annoying.

Once you get rid of all that stuff you're gonna feel great.

The trailer for the new Will Ferrell movie, Everything Must Go, is out. Looks like a really interesting story. I'll definitely be seeing this because after going through heaps and heaps of my stuff lately that I have stashed away at my parents house, a movie about purging your material possessions seems incredibly appropriate. The movie is out May 13.

What is this, a PF Changs?

The Hangover Part II trailer is here! It is basically the exact same movie but in Thailand...and I'm perfectly okay with that. I think using the same premise is a smart move. Usually, a good sequel to me is seeing the same characters you love acting the same, as though they are just continuing on the first movie.
And at first I thought this looks funny but not hilarious, but I thought about it more and that is the same thing I thought about the original Hangover trailer. So all in all, I am super stoked to see this.

Infect me with your love and fill me with your poison.

Katy Perry's video for "E.T." debuted today. I really like this song but the video they made for it is absurd. It gets pretty boring watching Katy oddly float around in space dressed like an "alien." And even though Katy looks awesome when she lands in that rubble, besides the deer legs, the whole second half of the video feels like a complete rip-off of Wall-E and Watchmen. Also, if they are going to go full alien for Katy they should've done the same for Kanye. He looks super out of place. I don't know. There is just a whole lot more potential for an alien-themed song and this comes up short.

I'm done with the office, hello, forest.

The Strokes performed a song I hadn't heard yet, "You're So Right," on Jimmy Fallon last night. So awesome. I love it...I am also loving how they drained the color around the album and then went into a black and white performance. Nice touch.

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

It's a little bit funny, this feeling inside.

While James Durbin had the best performance of the night, Casey Abrams definitely had the best song. He totally redeemed himself tonight...loved his version of "Your Song."

Cha-ching.

I cannot believe I've never seen this before. Honestly. How have they not pulled this out and played the entire thing when Seth Green was on a talk show or something? I mean, this is GOLD. "Cha-ching" may have been his catchphrase but those are also the words I yelled out when I found this video. That hair, his enthusiasm for his new found fame, that ridiculously large coat, the amount of times he actually busts out "cha-ching." I really love how shameless he is about using his celebrity to get free swag. I mean, it really is a pity Seth Green never went on to do anything else after this...

They shut down the factory when they created Zachary.

This is the most absurd/narcissistic/greatest homemade music video I've ever seen. But I had to sit and watch the whole thing. And I gotta hand it to Zack, he's got some sweet editing skills. I especially love the Robert Palmer homage. There are just lots of questions that arise while watching this. Like, are these girls his friends or did he pay them? Who is that skinny, white, Jewish rapper that just appears and spits rhymes about how rad Zachary is? Did Zack make this just to show at his Bar Mitzvah? God, I hope so...and I hope he entered that party wearing shades while this song was playing in the background. In all honesty, though, this is a thousand times better than Rebecca Black.

Never gonna give you up.

I honestly can't believe this trailer exists. This has SERIOUSLY gotten out of hand.

They don't love you like I love you.

I've been listening to Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Fever To Tell today. LOVE this song. Love the guitar at the beginning and the end. Love Karen O in this...she was a big idol of mine in high school.

I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand.

Really?! Each time they release a preview for MTV's Teen Wolf it infuriates me more and more. I know this show appeals to people younger than myself who have never seen the original Teen Wolf, but as someone who knows and loves the Michael J. Fox version (the only version, if you ask me) this is a slap in the face. Stop riding on Twilight's crappy coattails and come up with something original.

Every time I try to fly I fall, without my wings I feel so small.

I know that Britney's performance on Good Morning America yesterday morning made it look like she may have been lobotomized, but I don't feel like hopping on the Britney bashing bandwagon. We all know how she did, I won't draw more attention to it. I also won't go on and on about how outrageously expensive her concert tickets are. I will say that "'Till the World Ends" is an awesome dance song. And I will say that no matter how far Britney has fallen, I will always claim to be a fan.
Seeing Britney's performance didn't make me want to spew criticism, it just made me sad. I just want to shake her and yell "stop holding back, we know you can dance!" Every time I see Britney it looks like there is a lot of pain and insecurity inside her. I miss the old goofy, energetic, professional, exciting Britney. But people change and we all know she's been through a hell of a lot. Britney will always remain epic in my eyes.
Here are some of my fav Britney moments:

Probably my favorite Brit song...definitely the one I listen to the most. And I always loved this video. Plus, I just found out it was directed by the amazing David LaChapelle.

I distinctly remember seeing the debut of this commercial...it was a big deal. Pretty sure I taped it.

Not her finest moment but this just always makes me laugh. She is...ridiculous. I LOVE goofy Britney. Watching this now, it reminds me of David After Dentist...

Britney's MTV Diary used to be one of my favorite things to watch. I had it taped on VHS and watched it all the time. She was just so goofy and cute, I just wanted to hang out with her. Man, MTV used to have some quality shows.

Um...this is priceless. I used to love the Mickey Mouse Club and Justin's rapping skills are top notch here. And how cute is it that they are singing together? Really though, Britney could SING when she was little.

Britney and Clarissa host TRL! Holy shiz, a 90s dream!

The only reason I watched the Super Bowl that year. They don't make halftime shows like they used to.

Britney's Live From Las Vegas concert special was a huge deal. I remember it playing on HBO and being so excited to watch. I totally have that on a VHS tape, too. This was right before I saw her perform in St. Louis when I was fifteen. This was when she put a lot of effort into her shows and really got into her dancing. Plus, the end of this video is what inspired her iconic Madame Tussaud wax figure.

Anyways, Britney, I love you. Thanks for all the songs and laughs and VHS tapes.

Around the world.

One of the greatest music videos ever created.
This video came out when I was in fifth grade and I would wait for it to come on TV. Lucky for me, I can watch it on TV whenever I want thanks to my Michel Gondry Director's Cut DVD.
I have basically made it one of my lifelong goals to see Daft Punk in concert...too bad they are constantly ruining this for me by NEVER TOURING.

You're out of your element.

Tara Reid crapping on the best movie she's ever been in. Have to say though this is the most entertaining she's been in awhile.

And the sun goes down, I walk into the waves.

Perez Hilton blogged earlier that Hole had reunited at MOMA in NYC for the premiere of Hit So Hard, a documentary about drummer Patty Schemel. All the members of Hole make appearances in the film so I will definitely have to check that out.
As crazy as Courtney Love is, I will always have a soft spot for her. Celebrity Skin is pretty high on the list of albums that have really meant something to me. I remember hearing it for the first time in middle school and just really, really loving it. I got that album and listened to it over and over, and even after I owned it I would go directly to the music section at the bookstore near my house and just play it in the demo area with the headphones on while my mom shopped. I thought Courtney was exciting and different and I would try to adopt some of her character in my own way. Celebrity Skin was just so great because it was a softer side of the band...they still had that raw edge but it was approachable. To this day I have my copy of Celebrity Skin in my car at all times and I probably listen to "Malibu" at least a couple times a month. It is one of my all time favorite songs.
So seeing the band together brings back a rush of memories. I thank Hole for creating Celebrity Skin and being a big part of my life, really. I grew up to those songs. And really the craziest thing is that when I was thirteen most of my obsessions were bands, books and movies that spoke about or romanticized California. Hole, No Doubt, Clueless, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slums of Beverly Hills, Foo Fighters, The Craft, Weetzie Bat and the whole Dangerous Angels series are some of those that played a big role in my pre-teen/early teen years. In a time when I felt somewhat out of place in my surroundings, California seemed like this magical place in a whole other world. So now that my dream of reaching California is becoming a reality, I do look back and think how happy my little thirteen-year-old self would be to see that I am just going for it. "Malibu" reminds me of all of that and is still an incredibly magical song to me today.

I was thinking how nothing lasts, and what a shame that is.

Kees van Dijkhuizen puts together these great director video compilations for his "[the films of]" series. Lucky for me he has chosen to pay tribute to two of my fav directors, Sofia Coppola and David Fincher.
I just love how the clips flow from movie to movie so effortlessly. Also, there is great attention to detail in the way he finds similarity between clips and his use of particular shots and cuts to go with the beat of the music.
I just love a great cinematic compilation video and these are beautifully done.

Darn this stuff.

One of my all time favorite movies is turning 20 years old.
Beginning April 16th, Gallery Nucleus is having an exhibition devoted to the 20th Anniversary of Edward Scissorhands. Over 40 artists have created pieces to honor the fantastically creative film.
I'm loving the little details of the exhibition. There will be an Avon lady handing out samples and the gallery will be serving ambrosia salad. Genius.

And my clique make that dinero so it's time to meet the Fockers.

So I have been pretty much obsessed with Donald Glover lately. The best thing about being obsessed with Donald Glover is that he pretty much does everything, so whether you want to watch hilarious videos, listen to super clever hip hop, watch the best show on television, read numerous amounts of tweets, or read a super rad blog, he's one of the best.

Of course, above everything else, my favorite Donald Glover project is his role as Troy on Community, whiiiiich just got picked up for a third season. And I will say it again, Troy and Abed are pretty much the greatest thing on television right now. And if you aren't watching Community religiously, then you are a dummy. Just kidding. But not really.

Though I've been following him on Twitter for a little while now, I recently just discovered his blog, iamdonald. His blog covers everything from music to sex to fashion to food.

He also raps as Childish Gambino. There are links on his blog where you can download his albums for free, which I highly recommend doing because his songs are pretty awesome. The lyrics are flooded with clever pop culture references...definitely some of the best hip hop lyrics I've heard.

Here's a hilarious video of Donald on Conan...

What really brought me to posting about all of this was that I just saw on the LA Weekly list of concerts that he will be bringing his IAMDONALD Tour to LA just two days after my birthday...soooo I am pretty stoked.

And if you haven't seen his movie Mystery Team from his original comedy team, Derrick Comedy, watch the trailer or just go out and rent it or watch it on Netflix instant watch right now. Like everything else...it's beyond hilarious.

A love like ours is terrible news.

How have I not seen this until now?!
